The 10th Annual Saratoga Motorcar Auction celebrates its most successful year yet, setting new benchmarks in sales, bidder participation, and collector car values.
The Saratoga Automobile Museum is proud to announce the record-breaking success of its 10th Annual Saratoga Motorcar Auction, held September 18–19, 2026, at the Saratoga Casino Hotel. Celebrating a decade of automotive excellence, this year's landmark event delivered extraordinary results, generating over $9 million in gross sales and achieving an impressive 73% sell-through rate. The historic weekend marked a new chapter for the Museum, its supporters, and the growing collector car community in Saratoga Springs.
The 2026 auction established multiple new milestones, including the highest number of vehicles sold for more than $100,000, the highest average sale price per lot, and the largest number of registered bidders and pre-bids in the auction's history. These achievements reflect the continued growth of the Saratoga Motorcar Auction and its expanding reputation as a premier destination for collectors, enthusiasts, and automotive investors.
The defining moment of the weekend came on Saturday when an extraordinary 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing crossed the auction block, selling for a record-setting $1,760,000. The remarkable sale established a new high for an individual vehicle sold at the Saratoga Motorcar Auction, becoming the centerpiece of an already historic 10th anniversary celebration.
The excitement extended well beyond the Gullwing, with several exceptional vehicles commanding impressive prices. A 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS sold for $610,000, followed by a 2006 Ford GT at $594,000 and a 2015 Ferrari F12berlinetta at $522,500. These standout sales reinforced the strength and diversity of this year's consignments, attracting serious collectors and competitive bidding across a wide range of marques and eras.
With record participation both in person and through advance bidding, the 2026 auction demonstrated unprecedented enthusiasm from the collector car community. The combination of exceptional vehicles, strong bidder engagement, and outstanding sales results further solidified Saratoga's position on the national collector car auction stage.
Beyond the excitement of the auction block, the event's success represents something far greater for the Saratoga Automobile Museum and the community it serves.
The Saratoga Motorcar Auction plays a vital role in supporting the Museum's mission to preserve and celebrate automotive history while providing educational programs, exhibitions, and experiences that inspire future generations. Each successful auction directly contributes to the Museum's ability to expand its reach, strengthen its programming, and share the passion for automotive history with visitors of all ages.
The Museum extends its sincere gratitude to the dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, consignors, bidders, attendees, and community partners whose commitment and support made this milestone year possible. Their contributions continue to be the driving force behind the auction's remarkable growth and success.
With ten successful years now in the books, the Saratoga Motorcar Auction has reached an exciting new level. From record-breaking sales to unprecedented bidder participation, the 2026 event has set a new standard for the years ahead.
As the Saratoga Automobile Museum looks toward 2027, one thing is certain: the momentum has never been stronger, and the best is yet to come.

“Selling my car collection was an emotional decision, but working with the team at the Saratoga Motorcar Auction made the process as smooth and positive as possible. From the moment I reached out to them, Bill Windham and his team were nothing short of exceptional. They guided me through every step, from the initial consultation to the final sale, ensuring I felt informed and comfortable every step of the way.
The professionalism they exhibited was remarkable. The team took the time to carefully photograph and video each car in my collection, showcasing them in the best possible light to attract serious buyers. I could tell they really understood the value of each vehicle and were dedicated to maximizing their potential on the auction block.
What truly stood out was the consistent communication. Whether it was answering my questions, providing updates, or simply offering reassurance during what was a bittersweet time for me, I always felt supported.
In the end, I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The Saratoga Motorcar Auction went above and beyond to help me sell my cars, and I am grateful for their expertise and care. Bill Windham and the entire team made a difficult process as painless as possible, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to sell a car or their collection.
