In October 1903 the first great test of automobile endurance ran 800 miles across fourteen New York counties and through Pennsylvania and Ohio to Pittsburgh. On September 23, 2017 Robert Selkowitz is producing a Pilot Rally over 90 miles of the original route in the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains. Seventeen makes competed with 34 entries and in the mountains they experienced a cold downpour of more than six inches of rain over dirt roads.
Selkowitz will tell this story of the birth of automobiling will also talk about the 1906 Glidden Tour Endurance Run which came through Saratoga Springs. An exhibit of his Vintage Car Drawings is on display at the museum this season.
