‘GIVING TUESDAY NOW’ TAKES PLACE ON TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2020 IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (April 29, 2020) — Museums throughout Saratoga County and beyond are joining forces to raise funds to decrease financial burdens to these institutions of inspiration and exploration. The non-profit Museum community has been hard-hit by this pandemic and needs the continued support of the communities we serve. We recognize that our audience has also been affected by the sudden economic downturn, and local museums are dedicated to making our resources available, once it is safe to reopen, to those who would benefit from free or reduced admission.

Those whom are financially able to give, are encouraged do so. If one cannot give, we ask that they share this important information with others who may be able to contribute. If you are interested in attending one of our local museums, please visit their respective websites to begin planning for future trips. We are all in this together and by standing together we will prevail.

Saratoga Automobile Museum announces 2020 sweepstakes to win a 2019 Mercedes-Benz

The Saratoga Automobile Museum’s sweepstakes, now in its second year, is one of the largest fundraising efforts to benefit the Museum’s educational and exhibit programming.

The Saratoga Automobile Museum is an important and integral part of the Saratoga Springs and regional communities. The sweepstakes is one way to ensure the Museum is able to continue the mission of educating and enriching the community with the history and culture of automobiles and the educating about the dangers of distracted and other unsafe driving practices to reduce accidents and fatalities. The sweepstakes has become even more important since the Museum temporarily closed due to the NY on PAUSE Initiative to help protect visitors, volunteers, and staff from COVID-19.

Saratoga Automobile Museum to host Lego themed Kids Day

Participants will enjoy LEGO themed activities and more

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2020) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum is hosting a special Kids Day on Monday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Saratoga Automobile Museum. All kids under 12 years old will receive free admission to the museum while adults will pay the regular museum price for admission.

During Kids Day, LEGO creations will be constructed and will be used as a display for the upcoming Kids Gala on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Museum will also welcome local partners Mad Science of the Capital District and the School of the Arts at the National Museum of Dance that will be providing additional fun activities from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. We will also welcome local author Danielle Seaerless who will be performing a reading of her book and ICandy Designs will be providing face painting for this upcoming Kids Day event.

For teenagers 16 years and older, and adults, the Museum will have their distracted driving simulators set up to use. These simulators demonstrate the dangerous consequences of driving while distracted.

“We are so excited for the first Kids Day of 2020. After the success of our 2019 Kids Days, we are thrilled to host more and expand our educational offerings,” said Carly Connors, Executive Director of the Saratoga Automobile Museum.

Saratoga Automobile Museum awarded Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust grant for Distracted Driving Initiative

Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust grant award will help further the Distracted Driving educational program’s reach and impact

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (Jan. 6, 2019) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum has announced it is the recipient of a grant from the Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust. This grant has been earmarked to assist in the continuation the Museum’s nationally acclaimed Distracted Driving Initiative. The local community, especially students, will continue to benefit from the distracted driving simulators that aim to reduce dangerous driving habits. 

Since the program began in August 2015, deputies from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, area educators, students, and countless Museum visitors have used the simulators to learn how a few seconds of distraction can lead to tragedy and result in injury to yourself and others. 

“We are grateful that local organizations continue to support the Museum and its mission of educating about the dangers of distracted driving,” said Carly Connors, executive director, “The Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust’s continued assistance allows us to educate local community and members to the dangers they face each and every time they get behind the wheel.”

Saratoga Automobile Museum revives Donate a Vehicle program

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (Dec. 4, 2019) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum has announced it is reviving their Donate a Vehicle program to help boost fundraising efforts, to support exhibits and educational programming, such as the distracted driving initiative.

Vehicles that can be donated under the program include cars, trucks, SUVs, boats, campers, and RVs. Vehicle age does not factor into what can be donated, nor the road worthiness condition.

The Museum will review vehicles offered for donation in two ways; those that will be considered for the Museum’s exhibit collection, which is based on their connection to our mission and collecting focus, and those vehicles that will be sold. 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of a donated vehicle goes directly to the Museum and all vehicle donations are tax deductible for the donor.

The first vehicle donated under the revived program was a 1955 Ford Thunderbird that was auctioned off, at no reserve, during the third annual Saratoga Auto Auction in Sept. 2019. All proceeds from the sale of the donated vehicle directly benefited the Museum. The Saratoga Auto Auction is the largest fundraiser for the Museum and is held at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

“We are grateful that the local community continues to support the Museum and its mission.” said Carly Connors, executive director, “Our Donate a Vehicle program is another way for people to help fuel our educational programs by donating vehicles that they no longer need or use.”

Saratoga Automobile Museum to celebrate I Love Cars with new exhibit

Love Cars will feature Museum volunteer cars and the unique love stories behind them

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (Oct. 31, 2019) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum will present a new exhibit entitled I Love Cars beginning on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.

The exhibit will run through Sunday, May 31 and showcases cars that are part of the collective fiber of the Museum community and are owned by the dedicated volunteers who help support the Museum. Each car has a truly unique story as to why each owner decided on purchasing and their continued ownership of these varied automobiles. Cars span from the 1920s into the 2010s, with the focus of this unique exhibit as much about the owner’s love story with their vehicle as it is about the vehicle itself.

"The Saratoga Automobile Museum is honored to showcase these incredible car and owner love stories to the public. It is our hope that these stories will inspire the next generation of automotive enthusiasts and that one day we will be able to display their beloved cars here at the Museum.” said Carly Connors, executive director.

Saratoga Automobile Museum announces 2019 sweepstakes winner

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2019) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum has announced that Manny Drivas and Susan Horton of Marlboro, N.Y. are the winners of the Museum’s 2019 sweepstakes, sponsored by Maserati of Albany. Saratoga Springs Mayor Meg Kelly pulled the winning ticket from thousands of entries.

Drivas and Horton were visiting Saratoga Springs for their twentieth wedding anniversary. They decided to stop at the Saratoga Auto Auction Post Sale and Auto X car show on Sept. 22 in the Saratoga Spa State Park and purchased a single chance to win the sweepstakes.

“This will truly be an anniversary to remember for them,” said Carly Connors, executive director. “We would also like to thank everyone who purchased chances to win this beautiful car and our sponsor, Maserati of Albany, for their support of our education programming.”

Drivas and Horton will drive home in the 2017 Maserati Ghibli, Zegna Edition. The exterior color of the sports car is Nero Ribelle and the interior color is Cuoio with a high-gloss carbon trim and black brake calipers. Other features include a premium sound system, driver assistance, and a full factory warranty. Manufacturer's suggested retail price for this vehicle is $85,675.

The Museum’s 2019 sweepstakes raised nearly $30,000 for the Saratoga Automobile Museum to provide educational and exhibit programs to youth and adults, including their distracted driving initiative. The initiative’s goal is to reduce the number of accidents from dangerous distracted and impaired driving.

Saratoga Automobile Museum to host annual Lost Speedways program in November

The history of racing in the Capital District will be discussed with local racing legends in November

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (Sept. 27, 2019) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum’s extremely popular Lost Speedways program, a retrospective look at speedways that no longer exist and the racing heroes who excited the fans “back in the day,” will feature a popular speaker from the past, and will add a highly respected newcomer. The program will conclude with interviews of two of the region’s most popular drivers in the 2019 edition.

Lost Speedways will be held on Saturday, November 30. The program will open with a Mark Supley look at motorcycle racing in a segment titled “Motorcycle Madness.”  He will be followed by newcomer Paul Malecki, who has completed exhaustive research on the history of the long-defunct Altamont Fairgrounds Speedway, the site of big car races featuring regional drivers, AAA events and even NASCAR’s top division over the years.

Host Ron Hedger’s interviews with a pair of regional legends will round out the program.  First up will be Dickie Larkin, who had to cancel a scheduled appearance in the past due to a last-minute conflict.  Known for his success on the Empire State’s small block scene early in his career driving the famed “Yellow Banana” Ford Falcon, Larkin went on to great success in the big blocks at Lebanon Valley Speedway, where he had a huge fan base. He also has great stories to tell of his exploits on the Syracuse mile, where he was always a contender.

The program will end with Lebanon Valley hero, John Flach Jr., who had great success on the high banks, then retired at a relatively young age.  The 2019 season found Flach back behind the wheel in vintage events, with wins everywhere the group went, all the time wearing a huge smile. Lost Speedways visitors will certainly enjoy his recollections of the past and the story of his return to racing.

Other highlights of the program will include the annual display of memorabilia that participants bring to share and a quick look at vintage photos from western New York showing the rustic cars used long ago. Additionally, a short home movie of Fonda time trials back in the 1960’s and a Billy Rafter win on the Syracuse mile will be run at noon, before the formal presentations start.

The Saratoga Automobile Museum will open at 10 a.m., and memorabilia will be on display starting at 11 a.m.  with the formal presentations beginning at 12:30 p.m.  Regular Museum admission rates apply, with Museum members admitted free of charge.

SARATOGA AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM TO HOST A SPECIAL EVENING WITH RACING LEGEND DAVID HOBBS

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (Sept. 6, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum has announced a commemorative evening with David Hobbs, Bob Varsha, and Judy Stropus on Thursday, Sept. 19 starting at 6 p.m. in the Hall of Springs in the Saratoga Spa State Park. The evening will include a cocktail reception, dinner, and a silent auction to benefit the Museum.

The evening will also include the featured consignment to the auction, the 1969 Gulf Mirage M2 BRM, that was driven by David Hobbs. The two will be reunited during the evening. The guests of honor for the evening will include:

David Hobbs: David’s racing career spanned 30 years, at all levels, including Indy car, IMSA, NASCAR, Can-AM and Formula One. Hobbs has provided commentary for countless Formula One and GP2 races, working with CBS, NBCSN, and ESPN over the years. He was also a familiar voice in Disney-Pixar’s © animated movie, Cars 2.

Bob Varsha: Bob has long been known as the American voice of Formula 1. He has covered virtually every type of motorized competition in the world, on both two-wheels and four. He has provided commentary for numerous collector car auctions, historical retrospectives, vintage racing, and the all-electric Formula E Championship. He has also been master of ceremonies for the world’s premiere classic car showcase, the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance.

Judy Stropus: Judy is a driver, racer, author, professional timer, scorer, and award-winning public relations expert. She’s worked with the racing industry’s top teams, including Penske Racing, Brumos Racing, Bud Moore Racing, and Al Holbert’s Porsche IndyCar Team. Judy competed in the notorious Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash in 1972. In 1981, actress Adrienne Barbeau played her character Marcie Thatcher, which was loosely based on Judy, in the movie, Cannonball Run.

“We are honored and privileged to be reuniting David Hobbs with the Gulf Mirage that he drove those many years ago,” said Bill Windham, auction director, “This is a once in-a-lifetime event that racing and car enthusiasts won’t want to miss and is the best way to open the Auction weekend.

The 1969 Gulf Mirage M2/300/03 with a BRM V-12 engine is currently on display in the main gallery of the Museum until the Saratoga Auto Auction. Museum visitors will have the opportunity to see this incredible piece of racing and automotive history up close. This race car is one of only three produced by John Wyer Automotive Engineering for the 1969 World Sports Car Championship and its estimated value is 1.3 million dollars.

This Gulf Mirage is the only remaining Wyer Mirage that has been returned to its original, as raced, condition. The car is a complete, fresh concours restoration with an emphasis on originality and authenticity. This car was raced during the 1969 season with David Hobbs and Mike Hailwood behind the wheel. The Mirage M2 was the most successful of the three cars that had been built.

Saratoga Automobile Museum to host drive-in consignment day for Saratoga Auto Auction on Aug. 4

Discuss and learn more about consigning a vehicle that could be auctioned at the third annual Saratoga Auto Auction in September at SPAC

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (July 31, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum has announced that it will host a drive-in consignment day at the Museum on Sunday, Aug. 4 to promote the upcoming third annual Saratoga Auto Auction taking place this September.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., prospective consignors will have the opportunity to meet in-person with the Auction team to discuss consigning their vehicle for the auction. Should the prospective consignor and the Auction team decide the vehicle will be part of the auction, the Auction team will work with the consignor to estimate an auction value range for the vehicle, take professional photographs on-site, and execute a consignment contract with the Auction.

“Our drive-in consignment day is a great opportunity for prospective consignors to go through the consignment process in-person with our amazing team,” said Bill Windham, auction director of the Saratoga Auto Auction.

Saratoga Automobile Museum, Double H Ranch partner on vehicle auction

Proceeds will support the Ranch’s programs for children with life-threatening illnesses

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (July 30, 2019) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum and Double H Ranch are proud to announce a new partnership between these two venerable organizations, culminating with the auction of a2008 Ford Ravenhawk Roadster. The Ravenhawk will be auctioned off at the museum’s third annual Saratoga Auto Auction, taking place at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in September.

A mix of classic automotive looks and modern conveniences, the Ravenhawk is a modern car that captures the stylings of yesteryear. The Ravenhawk’s underpinnings consist of a Corvette C5 drivetrain and chassis with a LS2 Corvette engine. Boasting 405 horsepower mated with a six-speed manual transmission, the Ravenhawk delivers an exciting automotive experience.   

 “The 2008 Ravenhawk will certainly excite the car lover in everyone,” said Bill Windham, auction director. “We’re honored to help further the mission of the Double H Ranch through our partnership to auction this unique car off at no reserve during the third annual Saratoga Auto Auction.” 

 “The Double H Ranch shares a special relationship with Matt and Lois Emmens who generously support our campers and the mission, and donated this car,” said Max Yurenda, Double H Ranch CEO and executive director, “The car auction will directly benefit our inspirational campers and we are all excited to hear the results of this unique fundraising initiative with the support of the Saratoga Automobile Museum.”

 The Double H Ranch, based in the Adirondacks and co-founded by regional entrepreneur Charles R. Wood and actor Paul Newman, provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses. 

 Contemporary Classics Inc., a company founded by a retired Boeing engineer in the early 2000s, constructed this particular Ravenhawk in 2008. 

The Ravenhawk is currently on display at the Saratoga Automobile Museum until the auction in September, where it will be auctioned off at no reserve.  

 The Ravenhawk will also be on display at the Saratoga Race Track on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, along with Museum and Double H Ranch officials.

Saratoga Automobile Museum honors heritage of women and the automobile in new exhibition

Wheels: Women and Independence, 1900 to 1920 showcases the pioneering spirit of important women in American automotive history

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (July 11, 2019) – A groundbreaking new exhibit in the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s Orientation Theater showcases the experiences of seven pioneer female automobile enthusiasts, with New York State as the starting point for their adventures.

At times, each of the featured women played a pivotal role in societal change, with their paths sometimes crossing along the way. Each woman has her own unique story to tell with a passion for motoring at the center.

Coinciding with the national centennial celebrations for Women’s Suffrage, The Wheels: Women and Independence Exhibit explores the role of the automobile in the suffrage movement. August 18, 2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of the official certification of the ratification of the 19th Amendment by the United States Secretary of State,

“The Museum’s look at how automobiles changed society continues with our new exhibit dedicated to strong, independent women that used the automobile as a means of protest and progress,” said Carly Connors, executive director. “We’re proud to showcase how important the automobile was to cultural change and this new exhibit does just that.”

A grand-opening for this new exhibit will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the Museum’s Orientation Theater. The opening will feature insight and background on the exhibit by Anne Rockwood, guest curator for the exhibit, Chris Leonard, the Schenectady City Historian, and by Museum officials. This event is open to the public, with regular Museum admission.

The exhibit grand-opening coincides with the Museum’s second Hoods-Up evening; select cars will have their hoods opened up to give visitors a different perspective on automotive design and a rare glimpse into the priceless cars in the Museum.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (June 24, 2019) – The Saratoga Automobile Museum is excited to announce its newest consignment for the 2019 Saratoga Auto Auction; the 1920 Ford T-Bucket Roadster that was featured on the iconic, 1964 Venture’s album cover, Ventures in Space.

The Ventures, are one of the best-selling rock-instrumental groups of all time (with nearly 110 million albums sold, worldwide). The Ventures were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Oh. on March 10, 2008. Ventures in Space was their 14th album and featured the now iconic 1920 Ford T- Bucket on the cover, overlooking Los Angeles.

The car was purchased by Bob Collins, from Fred Steele, who has maintained the originality of the car. The T-Bucket boosts the original 1956 Chevy 265 cu. in. engine that was selected by Steele for the build. The black Naugahyde upholstery is a strong contrast to the white body was installed in Tijuana, Mexico after Fred Steele relocated to California from 1962 to 1964.

“We are excited to have this piece of automotive and music history consigned to our third annual Saratoga Auto Auction in September,” said Bill Windham, auction director. “We hope that many music and automotive fans come out to see and bid on this beautiful car and help maintain its legacy of great music and great automobiles.”

The T-Bucket Roadster is currently on display at the Saratoga Automobile Museum until the auction in September.

Spring Auto Show and Family Fun Day

Classic cars to take over the historic Saratoga Spa State Park’s Mall and Reflecting Pool grounds

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (May 9, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum has announced its annual Spring Auto Show being held on Saturday, May 18 (rain date Sunday, May 19) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of Saratoga Spa State Park. The show plays a major role in funding the museum’s distracted driving safety programs, vehicle restoration programs and educational exhibits. The Spring Auto Show engages car lovers of all ages with spectators receiving free entry to this year’s event.

As part of this year’s show, there will be a special thematical display of vehicles from the 1960’s. This will enhance the Wheels of Change: Cars and Culture of the Sixties exhibit inside the museum. However, vehicles of all makes and models are welcome to register for the Spring Auto Show.

Pre-registration for display vehicles is $10, and day of registration is $20. All registered vehicles will receive two regular admission tickets to the Museum and all pre-registered vehicles will receive two spectator’s tickets to this year’s 2019 Saratoga Auto Auction happening at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sept. 20 and 21.

“The Museum’s Spring Auto Show is an incredible way to kick off spring here in Saratoga and one of the Museum’s key initiatives to connect with the community. People from all over the Capital Region come to see these vehicles and to be part of this spring tradition,” said Carly Connors, executive director, “We love having hundreds of classic cars in the state park and are excited for this year’s show.”

This year’s Spring Auto Show will also feature the unveiling of the completely restored Hoffman Car Wash and Jiffy Lube 1923 Ford Model TT pickup. This unique Model T variant was restored during the Hoffman Car Wash and Jiffy Lube Restoration Program that occurred from November 2018 to May 2019.

The event offers children ages seven to 14 the opportunity to judge registered automobiles via the Hagerty Youth Judge Program. Youth judges will learn the criteria and guidelines for judging an automobile by experts. The youth judges will have a chance to present an award to the winner. The awards ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m.

Additional fun activities for children will include; family Model T rides, interactive activities provided by Mad Science (Capital District), We Rock the Spectrum — Ballston Spa, The Children’s Museum at Saratoga and local author Vicki Addesso Dodd with Long Shot the Moose from Saratoga Springs Publishing, LLC.

Saratoga Auto Auction consigns rare Gulf Mirage to 2019 auction

Extremely rare 1969 John Wyer Gulf Mirage M2/300/03 BRM V-12 to be auctioned off in Saratoga Springs this September

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (May 8, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum is excited to announce its newest consignment for the 2019 Saratoga Auto Auction; the 1969 John Wyer built Gulf Mirage M2/300/03 with BRM V-12 engine. This race car is one of only three produced by John Wyer Automotive Engineering for the 1969 World Sports Car Championship.

This Gulf Mirage is the only remaining Wyer Mirage that has been returned to its original, as raced, condition. The car is a complete, fresh concours restoration with an emphasis on originality and authenticity. This car was raced during the 1969 season with David Hobbs and Mike Hailwood behind the wheel. The Mirage M2 was the most successful of the three cars that had been built.

“We are honored to have this racing legend heading to our third annual Saratoga Auto Auction in September” said Bill Windham, auction director. “The sale of this Mirage will certainly be another entry into the history books for this incredible racing machine.”

The car boasts a freshened BRM V12 2998/182.9 cid engine producing 315 b.h.p. at 10,599 r.p.m. with a ZF 5DS24 five-speed gearbox. The Mirage’s chassis consists of aluminum monocoque with a rear subframe. Car in trace trim weighs 1,654 pounds.

This is the first time that this Mirage M2 has been offered for public sale. The Mirage M2 has been shown at various concours and auto shows, including; Monterrey Historic, Sebring, Amelia Island, Greenwich, Monticello, Radnor Hunt, as well as the Simeone Museum. It is highly unusual that an iconic John Wyer Gulf racing car is offered for sale. The Mirage presents a tremendous opportunity to own a part of that racing legacy in race ready condition.

In addition to this fully restored and racetrack ready Mirage, racing legend and former driver of this Mirage, David Hobbs will be on hand at the 2019 Saratoga Auto Auction to talk with fans about his experiences driving this piece of automotive history.

Saratoga Automobile Museum announces 2019 sweepstakes to win a car

Sweepstakes winner will take home a 2017 Maserati Ghibli Zegna Edition

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (April 9, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum’s 2019 sweepstakes, sponsored by Maserati of Albany, will run until Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. when the winner will be selected. The winner of the sweepstakes need not be present to win, and no purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes.

The grand prize is a 2017 Maserati Ghibli, Zegna Edition. The exterior color of the sports car is Nero Ribelle and the interior color is Cuoio with a high-gloss carbon trim and black brake calipers. Other features include a premium sound system, driver assistance, and a full factory warranty with 4,000 miles. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price for this vehicle is $85,675.

New Exhibit Celebrate cars of the Sixties

Wheels of Change: Cars and Culture of the Sixties will showcase the radical changes in automotive design concurrently with social changes of the time

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (March 29, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum (“SAM”) will present a new exhibit entitled Wheels of Change: Cars and Culture of the Sixtiesbeginning on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

The exhibit will run through Sunday, Oct. 27 and showcases cars that were part of the decade when dynamic changes in design and safety innovations occurred. After the post-war decade of the Fifties, cars became smaller, sleeker, agile, and more fun. This spurred car makers to reimagine what automobiles were and what they could be.

“The Saratoga Automobile Museum is honored to showcase these iconic cars to the region. We are sure that many of these cars will reignite memories for those who visit the museum to see the exhibit and inspire an automotive passion for others,” said Carly Connors, executive director.

A main draw for Museum visitors will be a gold 1967 Toyota 2000GT, on loan courtesy of Toyota Motor North America. This car has a unique history, as it was once owned by Twiggy, a fashion icon of the Sixties. Twiggy was on hand when the car was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show in 1967. Toyota re-acquired the car in the mid-Eighties, and it underwent a complete restoration to bring the car back to its original condition.

In addition to the Wheels of Change cars, renowned artist, Chris Osborne will display her award-winning automotive paintings with visitors in the Museum’s Golub Gallery. The gallery exhibit will open on Tuesday, April 2, and feature a wide variety of celebrities of the era depicted with iconic vehicles and will run until Sunday, Oct. 27.

“I have a passion for the romanticism of automobiles,” said Osborne, “My acrylic paintings feature iconic personalities with the cars they owned, drove, were filmed with, or wrote about in prose or song. By staging figurative models and actual cars I can create a design unique to my vision, enriched by exhaustive research and biographical study.”

Osborne has exhibited her works widely in galleries, art associations and art festivals throughout the Northeast and New York City. Her automotive related work has been highlighted at a number of major, national car collector events, including the Kruse Auction in Auburn, Indiana, the Louisville Concours d’Elegance, the Hampton Concours d’Elegance, the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles, the Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance, the Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance, and the Classic Car Club of America’s annual gathering in Michigan.

There will be a special exhibit grand-opening party on Friday, April 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Saratoga Automobile Museum. A cash bar of beer, wine, and complementary light fare will be served. Saratoga Automobile Museum to display classic Italian cars at New York International

Forza Italia! showcases fine Italian automobiles at premier auto show

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (April 11, 2019) — The Saratoga Automobile Museum is excited to announce its showcase of classic Italian cars as part of the Museum’s participation at the New York International Auto Show (“NYIAS”) from Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 28. The Museum’s display will be located in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center’s North Concourse.

The Museum will host a press conference on Thursday, April 18 that will feature Museum officials and Robbie Wolfe, from History’s American Pickers.

“We’re excited to return to the NYIAS as a platform to promote the Museum and its educational programming,” said Carly Connors, executive director, Saratoga Automobile Museum. “Our goal is to increase public awareness about the Museum’s mission and our exciting fundraising efforts that include, our annual Auto Auction and our car sweepstakes.”

The Museum’s classic car display for 2019 is entitled Forza Italia!The display pays tribute to Italy’s love affair with the automobile. Italy has been known for their historically significant architecture, designs in fashion, and its countryside and coastal vistas that have provided inspiration to countless artists and musicians.
